TORRINGTON, Connecticut - A group of teenagers misunderstood a woman's screams during sex and, thinking they were stopping an assault, beat a 25-year-old man in her bedroom, police said.

A 16-year-old girl who lives in the same home as the 34-year-old woman overheard her and the man on June 6 and rounded up four friends to stop what they thought was an attack, police Lt. Bruce Whiteley said Thursday.

One of the five teens beat the man with a bat and others punched him, police said. The man was treated at a hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, and was released that night.

"Apparently he didn't have time to explain himself," Whiteley said.

Maybe if their religious culture had allowed some minor sex education, this would not have happened. I mean, seriously, how can you get pleasure sounds confused with sounds of despair? Do you think it is right that we deny basic knowledge to young people about sex because of the fear that they might go against the values of their religious culture? Doesn't knowledge enable you to make smarter decisions? Or is knowledge a threat to the dogmatic religious values of the American culture?

Now, if you were to find a companion article stating that Torrington, CT has abstinence-only education, you might be able to build a case. Or, if you were to find a companion article that said anything about the religion of any of these teenagers, you might have a little bit less of a case. Right now, though? You do not have a case, particularly as Connecticut is one of the most liberal states in the country and it's highly unlikely that these teens' sex education was lacking.

(I'd also add as an aside that if you think that screams of pleasure can't ever sound like screams of terror, I'd call you a bit naive)

I highly doubt that even the most educated teens have had sex good enough to elicit screaming, and as we have no idea what kind of screams the woman was making (not to mention no idea if the kids weren't just being assholes and beating this guy for no good reason but telling people that they thought the woman was being attacked), there's really no reason to jump to the conclusion that it's a lack of sex education that's the culprit here.  

Now, if you were to find a companion article stating that Torrington, CT has abstinence-only education, you might be able to build a case. And actually, that wasn't a contradiction at all. The teens probably hadn't had sex good enough to elicit screaming and were naive enough to think that the screams of pleasure they heard were screams of terror, not knowing that the two can often sound exactly alike.

screaming is screaming, some girls have different pitches in there screams so it could sound like she is hurting, and not experiencing pleasure. proper sexual education isnt a bad thing, playing sounds of women having sex for a bunch of teenage boys in class with teenage girls is. and its personal because its another pathetic attempt by you to go on a self righteous crusade with a really lame example of why we need more than what we already have.
